Yoshi
Yoshi made his first appearance in 1990 as Mario's sidekick in Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), quickly becoming one of Nintendo's most beloved characters. As a green, dinosaur companion, Yoshi introduced new gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to eat enemies and lay eggs, which added a layer of strategy to the traditional Mario platforming formula. His popularity led to his own series, starting with Yoshi's Island (1995) for the SNES, a game known for its vibrant, hand-drawn art style and innovative gameplay that included transforming Yoshi into various forms and solving puzzles.
Over the years, Yoshi starred in a variety of spin-off titles, such as Yoshi's Story (1997), Yoshi’s Woolly World (2015), and Yoshi’s Crafted World (2019), each offering unique visual styles and creative mechanics. Yoshi also appeared in multiple Mario Kart, Party, and Super Smash Bros. titles, expanding his presence beyond platformers. With his lovable personality, fun abilities, and diverse game experiences, Yoshi has solidified his place as a key figure in Nintendo's roster, appealing to both casual and dedicated players alike.
