Metroid

Metroid made its debut in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), introducing players to the iconic bounty hunter Samus Aran and her battle against the space pirate Ridley and the parasitic Metroids. Developed by Nintendo's R&D1 team, Metroid was a pioneering title that blended platforming with exploration and non-linear gameplay, laying the groundwork for what would later be called the "Metroidvania" genre.

The franchise continued to evolve with Metroid Prime (2002) for the GameCube, which marked the series' transition to 3D and introduced first-person gameplay, revitalizing the series with a more immersive and atmospheric experience. Other key entries include Metroid: Zero Mission (2004), a remake of the original game, and Metroid: Samus Returns (2017), a reimagining of Metroid II: Return of Samus from the Game Boy. Metroid Dread (2021) brought the series back to its 2D roots with modern mechanics, thrilling fans with its return to the tense, atmospheric exploration that defined the franchise. Throughout its history, Metroid has remained known for its deep lore, atmospheric environments, and challenging gameplay, making Samus Aran one of gaming's most iconic and enduring characters.
